QUARTZ
NATURAL HISTORY
Quartz is a clear or white form of silicone dioxide found throughout the world. It is the second most common mineral, with feldspar taking first place. Quartz is often found embedded in sedimentary rocks, including sandstone and shale and as part of igneous rocks, like granite.
HISTORY AND FOLKLORE
>Called the Witch’s mirror and the Star Stone.
>Hercules dropped the Crystal of Truth from Mount Olympus shattering it into all the pieces we find today. Since clear crystals come from the Crystal of Truth, it is said that anyone using a clear crystal while divining can never lie.
>In parts of Asia, Quartz is thought to be pure dragon essence.
ASSOCIATIONS
Element: Water, fire
Astrological: Cancer, Leo
Planet: Moon, Sun
TRADITIONS
>Has been used in many parts of the Pacific to call rain.
>Clear quartz crystal absorbs energy from the Sun and the life force in the trees and plant life. It also draws down Divine light. It stores all this energy to be released as needed. This energy is released as white light that can be absorbed by any chakra. It also raises the vibrational level of its surroundings.
HEALING AND MAGIC USES
Body: Boosts the immune system. Clears negative debris causing disease from the aura. Relieves pain and fevers. Relieves vertigo. Aids healing and tissue regeneration.
Mind: Fuels memory. Aids concentration. Gives creative insight. Balances emotions.
Magick: Facilitates clairvoyance and divinatory abilities. Aids in meditation. Induces prophetic dreams. Protects against psychic attack. Receives, amplifies, and transmits energy. Purifies the aura and the soul.
CLEANSING
Cleanse frequently by smudging or in sunlight, or saltwater. If you wish to use a singing bowl, use the bowl near it. Do not put the stone in the bowl as the vibrations against the bowl may damage the points. Recharge under a plant under either the sun or the moon.
