I've read a lot of things stating that your incantations must be spoken properly, even going as far as to say that the tone and volume must be accurate. However, I find this to be very...nitpicky and inaccurate if I do say so myself. I'm a kid with anxiety and I can't really articulate well. I mean, I stutter up a storm on a good day. So, this is kinda stressful because so many of my spells require incantations!! I also like hearing myself talk.... So, the question stands. Is it necessary? And what about witches who are disabled or just can't articulate? I, personally, lose functioning in my voice when certain things are confronted. Literally, the voice can be frightened out of me! When I'm not stuttering or forgetting things, that is. - Are incantations absolutely necessary?
- Do you think that such requirements such as properly articulating, stressing, and adding the right tone and atmosphere are required?
- What do you believe are alternatives?
Just a few questions I thought of.
I, personally, think they can add to the power of the spell, but are they absolutely necessary? Probably not. Should a person be flawless in speech? It's perfect practice, but probably not. Alternatives? You can write it down! You can sing if you sing better! Putting something personal into your spell helps, too. And remember my post on music? Music can replace things!
What do you all think? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I don't talk much with my voice in any situation. I'm especially quite when it comes to practicing magic. I don't use incantations, never have, probably never will. It's just a personal preference, because I hate talking. I definitely don't think incantations are absolutely necessary. If you're making a spell and you don't want an incantation, you don't have to add one in. If you're doing a spell that somebody else made, I don't really know in that case, you can probably just leave the words out or recite them in your head. I never really do anything but my own spells, so I don't really have much experience with that.
As for if tone, articulation and stressing things in the right way are required, I would assume it helps a lot. Probably not a 100%, 'you must do it like this' kind of thing. Of course, the words do have their literal, face-value meanings, but the way we say things has a big influence on the meaning and the way people, or the universe, will hear it . Language isn't just the words we speak, a huge part of communicating comes from body language, facial expressions, and the way that you say the words. You can say the same phrase one way, with a certain tone, and then say it a completely different way and it can take on a different meaning and the way that it gets interpreted changes.
Now, alternatives are something I know a bit about. If the words are a big deal to you and you want to put them out into the universe, writing them down is an excellent way to do it. Just like how you pronounce things and tone has an influence on verbal language, the colour of text, your punctuation, and the style of the writing can make you interpret it differently. You don't need fancy ink pens and all different types of nibs, you can make different styles of writing just by changing the angle of the pen or by writing with felt markers.
Speaking the words with your inner voice is also a good alternative. You can't really change the volume, but every other aspect of speach you can alter to suit your purpose. You'd still be reciting the incantation, just not vocalizing it. You can read a book in your head, the instruction book for a toaster, so why not a spell? It seems logical enough.
