Magical Gem Elixir
Gem Elixirs are potions infused with the magical properties of a crystal or gemstone. Gem elixirs have many uses, mostly recognized for long term healing, but the uses can vary depending on the crystal used to make said elixir. Gem elixirs are also very easy to make and can be stored conveniently. Recommended crystal elixirs to make include, but are not limited to:
Rose Quartz Elixir: To heal a broken heart and learn self love
Obsidian Elixir: To help surrender negative habits and bring about change and clarity.
Agate Elixir: As an aphrodisiac potion - add a couple of drops to your lover’s drink, with his or her permission.
Citrine Elixir: To help manifest your goals; it attracts abundance and personal power, and helps to keep you cheerful.
Blue Lace Agate Elixir: to help ease the physical effects of stress and tension.
Emerald Elixir: To help heal the trauma of violence, abuse or r-pe.
Jade Elixir: For serene and calming energy.
Amethyst Elixir: To help you tune into a higher awareness of knowing.
Sodalite Elixir: to increase your creativity and vision.
You can ingest gem elixirs. However, it's recommended to use the indirect method as many crystals can actually be harmful to your health.*
You will need**:
A glass jar-like most potions, avoid plastic***
A glass bowl
Clear lid or plastic wrap
Rainwater, natural spring water, non-carbonated mineral water or tap water
Instructions****:
Nestle the glass jar inside of the glass bowl. Place the cleansed crystal in the bowl next to the jar.
Fill the jar with natural spring water or rainwater if you can. If neither of those are available to you, use bottled non-carbonated mineral water or tap water. Fill the bowl outside the jar with any of these waters.
Place the clear plastic wrap or clear lid atop the bowl and jar to keep out bugs and prevent animals from drinking from it. Don’t use a metal lid.
Place the bowl outside for anywhere between 3 hours all the way up to overnight during a Full Moon.
After three hours or the next morning, dispose of the water in the bowl. Transfer the water from the jar into dropper bottles.
If the now-bottled elixir will be used over a long period of time, add one of the following to prevent bacterial growth: apple cider vinegar, vegetable glycerine or brandy (for adults).
For best results, take three to four drops of the gem elixir under your tongue, three times daily for at least a month. Or take three to four drops of the elixir in a glass of water three times a day.
Additional notes and/or warnings
:
*Some crystals actually CAN be detrimental to your health. So, for your sake, please do not stick the crystal directly into your elixir. Unless you're sure of what you're working with, continue to do the indirect method.
**First, you will need to select a stone that suits the goal of your spell and make certain that it is thoroughly cleansed. I’ve covered cleansing in other posts. The short version is that most - not all - gemstones can be cleansed in a solution of sea salt and water.
**For the best results, every item you plan to use should be cleansed inside your magic circle to avoid introducing any unwanted energies to your spell.
***You will be leaving the crystal, water and containers outside under the Moon or the Sun, depending upon the type of elixir you are making. You want to let the clear light of the Moon or Sun shine on the stone and the water for at least three hours. It is important that the stone and the water get at least this much time under pure sunlight or moonlight, not just hazy light filtering through the clouds. Aim to make your elixir on clear, cloudless day or night.
Plastic glasses/jars/bowls can also interfere with this. The plastic wrap/lid is to keep bugs out.
****Any elixir that will be used for physical purposes or bodily healing should be created with sunlight
Any elixir that will be used for magical, psychic or mental purposes should be created with moonlight
Some crystals should not be cleansed with salt, due to possible damage from a chemical reaction. These crystals include: calcite, carnelian, labradorite, lepidolite, malachite, moldavite, opal, turquoise and ulexite.
Some crystals may fade in sunlight, if left there beyond a few hours. These crystals include: amethyst, ametrine, aquamarine, aventurine, citrine, celestite, chrysoprase, fluorite, kunzite, opal, rose quartz, smokey quartz, topaz and turquoise.
